All About the Apple Queen
Are you interested in an educational and fulfilling job of promoting apples?
Hello, my name is Makayla Keller and I am the 2022 Pennsylvania Apple Queen. I would like to tell you about the Apple Queen Contest, requirements, and duties.
You must be 16 years of age by September 1, 2023 and a sophomore or junior in High School. You must be willing to learn and educate the public about apples and the apple industry. Previous knowledge of apples is not required. Training will be provided.
Everyone interested must submit an application and there will be a contestant tea to become acquainted and go over details of the contest.
The contest will be held on Sunday October 15th, 2023 during The National Apple Harvest Festival.
The contest will consist of greeting Festival attendees, a personal interview and a question-and-answer session about apples and the apple industry on stage. You will receive information to study for the contest after you send your application.
If you become the Pennsylvania Apple Queen you will attend many fun promotions from Fairs and Festivals to talking to students in Elementary schools.

- Farm Show -2nd weekend in Jan 2024

The fall will be your busiest season. We typically have two Sunday promotions in September and the four days of the Apple Harvest Festival. You may need to miss school for a few promotions. You must be a “people person”, willing to work with all ages. I have greatly enjoyed my reign as Apple Queen. Not only have I learned a lot about apples, but I have had the opportunity to meet many new people and educate them about apples.
